The Caffeinated
As part of her practicum for her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Washington, graduate student Alexandria Simmons facilitates a new series of curated events called "The Caffeinated" at the Caffe Ladro in Edmonds.

On the third Saturday of each month artists gather at the coffee shop to experience the power of the spoken word and the language of music. Performers are curated prior to the event, ensuring a family-friendly environment in which anyone can join in the experience, relax with a fresh cup of coffee, and enjoy the live performances of local artists.
Upcoming Events:
Ek·phra·sis Writing Competition
All writers of prose and poetry are encouraged to enter the friendly Caffeinated writing competition. Here's how:

1. Each quarter, a period of three months, flyers will feature a unique image. Creators are encouraged to take inspiration from the visual and write a creative response.
2. Ask yourself, what do you think this picture is communicating? What crucial element is missing from the scene? Or tell a story, real or made up, inspired by the illustration.
3. When your work is complete, email your submission to cw.alexandriasimmons@gmail.com

4. The winner of each competition will either open or close the next event and receive a mystery prize.
Good luck!

*NOTE: In order to be considered, your single submission must be sent before the deadline. The call for the Spring chapter submissions (March-May 2023) ends at 11:59pm May 6th, 2023.
