Think of this as my to-do list. It consists of MFA thesis and practicum projects, as well as other fun ideas on the back burner!
A Story from the Kingdom of Loria
The Education of Scarlette Urrug

Scarlette Urrug is a 13-year old half-orc who has just started her first year at Amalgamate Academy, a private school in a liberal pocket of the Kingdom of Loria. Her father works for the Kingdom's militia, and, though she inherently wants to be proud of him, she and her family are surrounded by anti-police neighbors.

Not only must she contend with the political opinions of her new teachers and peers, Scarlette also struggles with the social cliques of Amalgamate Academy. Her desperate search for a sense of belonging leads to a downward spiral of her own sense of identity.

Love, hate, and fear whirl around and within Scarlette as she struggles to figure out what it means to stay true to oneself in a magical world of lies and manipulation.
Scratches of a Quill:
Escapism
A series of original poetry and short stories, Scratches of a Quill is a collection of my original work that is underlined by the theme of escapism.

In bite-sized morsels readers are first introduced to politically- and racially-charged family dynamics.
The narration continues in an exploration of the hardships deployment can wreak upon children and their households before finally meeting a crescendo of unhealthy coping mechanisms. Here elements of mental health emerge as the narrator struggles with the elusive idea of internal balance.
Finally, the collection closes as the narrator travels around the world finding both the blessing and the curse culture shock can represent when embraced.
